Card #1
Immediately starting off with a card that I deemed so good it should be in the jet-lag post.
The cheerleader there with the billion yen smile is Tomoyo Wakai, and she cheers for the Nippon Ham Fighters of Hokkaido.
According to the back of the card her sign is aquarius, she was born in Kanagawa, she's 150 cm (4.92126 in ft), in her second year of being a cheerleader, and she loves cheese and chocolates. Also she likes going on vacations to overseas and considers being able to speak English to be her best skill. Unfortunately for Tom, it doesn't state her blood type (I'm not sure any of these cards list that anymore).
The little message at the end basically her saying that she's going to make up for her small stature with her dynamic performances. Also that she hopes to cheer the Fighters towards their first Nippon Series title in three years. I'm sure both of those are as true as they are prepackaged words written for her by Fighters PR.
Card #2
It's not often that I cram a card that's autographed in the number two hold in a three cards post, but that's what happens when the subject is someone I've already blogged about.
I like Tomonaga but I'm not sure how much longer he's going to be with the Dragons. Regardless, this is still a cool autograph that the lone collector I was able to meet in Japan gave me. Apparently they got it as a "compensation prize" at a raffle at a card show. Which should say all that really needs to be said lol. Kinda unfair to Tomonaga and his great penmanship, but such is the harsh realities of cards.
Card #3
The downside of going to Japan in the summer is going out in the blazing heat with humidity suffocating you. The upside is that you can run into bags of Calbee chips that come with two baseball cards in them. I bought a few packs and one of them featured this checklist card.
According to the little sentence at the top, this shot was taken on April 2nd, 2019 after Yoshihiru Maru hit his first dinger since he signed as a free agent with the Yomiuri Giants in the 2018-19 offseason. Maru had previously been with the Hiroshima Carp fro 2008 to 2018.
And that was a new edition of 3 cards featuring three of the newest cards to come into my collection from my latest trip.
As always thanks for stopping by and take care :).
